The Tapa of White Tuna in Olive Oil with Roasted Piquillo Peppers is one of the most popular in Spain. Rooted in the north, it is a classic combination of delicate white tuna and sweet roasted peppers. Bonito del Norte is the prized, tender white tuna line-caught in the cold waters of the Bay of Biscay. Lower in fat than common tuna, rich in antioxidants, linoleic acid and Omega 3, it acts to reduce cholesterol and promotes a healthy circulatory system. Red Roasted Piquillo Peppers are original from the Navarra region in the North of Spain. These small peppers are harvested each autumn and roasted over log fires to give a characteristic rich, smoky flavour. They are finally hand-peeled to protect the distinctive meaty flesh. Drizzled with some Arbequina Olive Oil over Tostas or slices of any artisan bread of your preference, this Tapa is ideally shared over a glass of wine with good friends.

Ingredients
  • White Tuna in Olive Oil
  • Red Roasted Piquillo Peppers
  • Arbequina Oilve Oil
  • 12 Tostas
  • (Alternatively find all these ingredients in our Tapas Kit of White Tuna with Roasted Piquillo Peppers)
Instructions
  1. Drizzle with some Oilve Oil the 12 Tostas or 12 slices of any artisan bread of your preference.
  2. Cut each Piquillo Pepper in half and place on a Tosta.
  3. Distribute the Bonito over each Piquillo Pepper portion and finally drizzle with some Arbequina Olive Oil.
  4. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
